Do not let the name of this game fool you – it may have ‘Force’ in the title, but the game is not a tactical RPG as one would expect from such a name. Sega Japan tacked ‘Neo’ on the end to try to show it’s different: it is, in fact, an Action RPG (and not even 2 player like Shining Tears).

Aspartate has kindly translated Sega Japan’s introduction to the game:

“New Shining Force is born.Warriors inherited the destined power called “Force” from their fathers,and carve the trophies of their battles on this stone.This is a story about people who own the two “Forces” of light and darkness.All these love will rock the world.

A RPG that wakes your heart.”

Well, it’s certainly going to rock the Shining World, and seemingly not in a good way. Let’s hope it’s a pleasant surprise.
